On Nov. 10th, Miniature Curiosa will transform the parking lot of Hemisfair Park into a drive-in theater like no other. It’s a Friday night, and five teens are about to journey through one unsettling evening at the movies. Audiences are invited to grab a radio from the concession stand and tune into the teen scream drama as they peer into the windows of a 1990 Honda Accord. Or, simply change the dial to experience the evening’s obscure silent film, The Clown Was Stung By Wasps. Using a real car, audio transmitted via handheld FM radios, and live-projecting video cameras filming the movie live on-site, this brand new outdoor spectacle promises to be our most ambitious to date.

The Clown Was Stung By Wasps is part of San Antionio's Luminaria festival. The show will take place at 8:00pm and 10:00pm in the parking lot of Hemisfair Park [S. Alamo Street]. 

The event is free. 

Creative Loafing presents An Excruciatingly Ordinary Toy Theater Show as part of their 2016 GASP Festival at the Tampa Museum of Art.

This is the cabinet of curiosity inside your grandpa’s basement for an evening of paper, technology, and sensational storytelling.

Dr. Douglas Irene is here to present his lecture entitled, Birds of America, A Brief description of the Birds of America, created by Dr. Douglas Irene. Please do not confuse this with a similarly titled body of work by a certain Audubon, for this lecture is filled with anecdotes and photographs of birds from Dr. Irene’s personal collection. Don’t mind the woman in the photos. That’s merely Margaret, Dr. Douglas Irene’s wife. Douglas and Margaret used to live in a house at the top of a lonely cliff against the soundtrack of a raging sea. Despite their distance from the rest of the world, Margaret never could escape the watchful eye of those birds of America. Poor Margaret.

Cameras soar through miniature scenery and frightful dreamscapes of Birds of America as Miniature Curiosa takes you on a multimedia exploration into scale and suspense.

Clown, archivist, and amateur scientist Albert Billows has built a time machine. Followed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, haunted by a bloodthirsty execution of a lawbreaking pachyderm, and inspired by a mysterious woman from a century earlier, Albert Billows escapes to the past in order to change the course of human history and finally do something useful with his life.
